Just what is the Lomi Lomi technique, you may ask? It is a very deep style, but the emphasis is on soothing, rather than more pointed techniques such as acupressure. The massage is like a Rhythmical dance that gently rocks one into a blissful release of tension. Marguerite studied with the legendary Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage teacher Auntie Margaret Machado from the Big Island. Many consider Aunti Margaret as a living legend in Lomi Lomi Massage. She has retired from teaching but thankfully has passed her gifts on to others. Marguerite studied with her over 27 years ago.
Structural Integration In addition to Lomi Lomi, Marguerite also practices Structural Integration or Realignment Therapy. This is a very advanced form of massage that is scientifically formulated to modify the shape of the connective tissue, or fascia, of the body. The lengthening and spreading of fascia may allow the spine to come into a normal alignment, which removes pressure from stressed nerves and muscles. It also "unglues" the body with the gentle separation of muscles from bones and muscles from muscles. Physical benefits may include greater range of motion and release of stress on pinched nerves and disks, resulting in pain reduction or elimination. Lomi Lomi Training Retreats If you are inclined to learn massage for family or as a profession, you may have found your teacher. Marguerite trains couples, professional therapists, and those pursuing massage as a career. Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage Training and Therapy is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education provider. This course earns 50 credit hours. Retreats are held on the north shore of Kauai near beautiful beaches and breath taking scenery. Hawaiian herbal remedies and other treatments are discussed. Hooponopono is the Hawaiian way to solve problems. During the retreat, students experiment with the ancient wisdom of the Hawaiian people through the practice of Hooponopono. After completion of the retreat, you are totally melted by the massage and fully trained to provide others with an hour-and-a-half massage in LomiLomi and Structural Realignment Therapy.
